Things to take into account before traveling to any waterfalls in Bali

It is safe to say that Bali is just distinguished in a way that the locals have a certain culture that is best to take into consideration when it comes to having a trip to natural destinations like mountains, beaches, and especially, in this case, waterfalls. Natural sites are holy for the locals. Therefore, it is not rare to find several temples with fresh offerings in the sites considering they respect the world we’re living in not only inhibited by humankind but also spirits that they believe are there to help protect the island. Referring to this matter, women who are on period are not allowed to enter sacred sites. The visitors should as well avoid committing ill intentions within the areas. These include joking around sacred sites and using inappropriate swearwords too.

In addition, don’t forget to pack your swimsuit in your backpack in case you’re up for a swim. Bali waterfalls with medium to hard trails will require proper footwear like water shoes that don’t easily slip. Other things to bring include a raincoat, sunblock, water, insect repellent, your own meal, as well as a sum of money.  Might you be bringing your professional camera, make sure to keep it away from moisture and water by bringing its cover and some wipes. Since waterfalls in Bali mostly do not have lightings around the area and mostly they are still part of wild jungles, come early to get the freshest of air from nature as well as beating the crowd.

Tegenungan Waterfall

If you don’t have any idea how to reach Tegenungan waterfall, you can go to the receptionist in your private villa in Ubud and ask whether they can provide you a driver. From the heart of Ubud, it only takes you 5km to reach the area. Tegenungan waterfall is known as a perfect spot to chill by the waterside on a burning day.  However, the current here might be a bit strong and the water depth might be dangerous for cliff jumping. The trekking path is well-tended. The difficulty is pretty subjective but for us, it is quite easy.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Although the space in this waterfall is cramped, the view and the journey are guaranteed enjoyable. From our private villa in Ubud, KajaNe Mua, it is an only a 30-minute drive. Moreover, you can casually walk for about 5-10 minutes to finally reach the main site. Visitors love taking their shots from the river since it provides the best angle for this waterfall while having fun in the refreshing water. Be careful when standing on the rocks in this waterfall, they are slippery.

Tibumana Waterfall

This is a hidden gem in Bali that is only a 40-minute drive from Ubud. From the parking lot, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the waterfall. The trail is super nice and well-maintained with stairs leading down to the waterfall surrounded by diverse kinds of vegetation. You will also pass by a wooden bridge over a small river before witnessing the surreal beauty of the single stream in the Tibumana waterfall. The serene water is perfect for swimming.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

The paths in this waterfall can be the trickiest out of the three waterfalls we have mentioned formerly. This is because it is uneven. You will have to go down the high stair first. Then, as you are getting nearer to the waterfall you will find yourself wading through rocks. Put on proper water shoes in this waterfall especially in the rainy season since all the way you need to pass by a small stream of water with gravels at the bottom. The journey is worth it after all. You can arrange a scooter by renting in our private villa in Ubud if you are planning to ride from KajaNe Mua.
